INSTRUCTIONS FOR CASE HISTORY SUBMISSION
PURPOSE
The main objective of a
homoeopathic treatment is not only to treat disease, but also to bring about a
balance and harmony between mind and body – to help the patient to increase his
own healing power, so that his body can take care of different problems.
At level of mind, he becomes
aware of his thoughts, fears, feelings, perceptions and the reactions associated
with all these.
At body level he gets rid of the disease. His sleep, appetite, thirst improves.
To attain this objective, we
need to understand these aspects in detail. This is why you need to fill up this
detailed case record.
A one-to-one homoeopathic
consultation consists not only of asking questions, but more importantly
listening most attentively to the answers.
It is important to know about the food you like, your sleep, how much you sweat, your thirst, about your nature, dreams you get, your feelings, perceptions and sensations you experience to the different situations in your life etc.
The focus is to understand
each patient as a whole and to determine what it that sets him apart from
others. Each one of us differ from others, not only in our appearance or manner
of talking, but also in the way we feel, think, react, view the world within us
and around us and also in our nature, temperament, the food we like to eat the
kind of diseases we suffer from. If there were an epidemic, say of flu, some
people, not all, would be actually affected with the infection. How does this
happen?
Each of us has our own
individual reactivity hence the symptoms and pace of infection differ in every
case. In any situation each one of us reacts differently. Think of a tragedy and
different people feel differently and react differently to events.
The same stimulus brings about different perceptions and reactions. Here each one’s experience to one common stimulus is individualistic and of great significance for a homoeopath as it can give a hint for deciding a remedy. Modern medicine looks at the physical disease (Diagnosis) and homoeopathy looks at the whole disturbed phenomena at the mind, body and the energy level.
In Homoeopathy, each person is regarded as a sum of his innermost feelings, perceptions, thoughts, sensations plus the reactions to {thoughts, feelings, perceptions, fears and sensations} plus the way he cope-ups with all these in health and disease. Finally what is important for the homoeopath is the way one thinks, feels, perceives and senses his illness, himself and the world around him.
In order to explore these, Homoeopath needs to explore the areas where these things are expressed completely. These are best explored in patient’s fears, dreams, incidents which had a deep impact on him, his interests and hobbies, childhood nature, fantasies, desires, imaginations, complaints which bothers him the most etc.
